Dies

Collection

Rolling dies are used to copy threads onto "male" screws.

Utilizing the same advance technology we use for our world-renowned taps, OSG manufactures a variety of dies in accordance with their intended use with superb precision and tool life.

THREAD ROLLING CYLINDRICAL DIES (TR)

There are two types of cylindrical dies - those used with thread rolling machines and those (with small diameters) used with automatic lathes.

THREAD ROLLS

THREAD ROLLS FOR THREAD ROLLING ATTACHMENT TR-2E

Thread rolling attachment are often used on multi-spindle automatic lathes.
The attachment moves at a right angle to the workpiece in order to imprint the thread.

THREAD ROLLS FOR END ROLLING HEADS TR-3E

End rolling heads are designed for through feed thread rolling, during which the cylindrical dies make contact with one end of the workpiece. At the end of the rolling process, the distance between the dies increases, thus allowing for easy unloading of the work material, without reversal.

CYLINDRICAL DIES FOR WORMS (TR-WR)

Worm forming involves larger pitches and lead angles.and often requires higher pressure than many thread rolling operations. These cylinders must therefore be extremely tough and accurate.

CYLINDRICAL DIES FOR SPLINE (SR)

OSG also manufactures cylindrical dies for splines finished by grinding operations.
In operations for involute spline for automotive parts, these dies provide unprecedented accuracy and finished surface that cannot be achieved with conventional cylindrical dies.

THREAD ROLLING FLAT DIES (DP)

We offer a wide variety of flat dies with different specifications. OSG prepares many semifinished, standard form flat dies for stock in order to ensure faster delivery.

THREAD ROLLING PLANETARY DIES (RCD・RSD)

During planetary thread rolling, threads are imprinted when the work piece travels between a fixed die and a moving rotary die. Unlike rolling with flat dies-that must continually stop and start again-planetary rolling can accomplish high speed operations because the dies do not need to stop moving.

RACK TYPE ROLLING DIES (RF)

Mainly used for automotive parts production, RACK TYPE rolling dies are for fast, large volume production of parts with involute splines. Compared with other rolling systems, the RACK TYPE is a simple, user-friendly process. RACK TYPE systems are becoming increasingly popular.
